American singer-songwriter Dave Hause first came to prominence as the front man of punk rock band The Loved Ones. He was also guitarist/vocalist in Step Ahead, Paint It Black and The Curse. He has been focused on his solo career for about a decade now though. The music he creates nowadays is not as punk and a bit more rootsy and rock, but there’s no lack of energy in his compositions. With his raw voice, driven vocals and strong guitar-playing, Hause manages to win audiences left and right with his up-beat outbursts. Recommended to fans of Frank Turner, The Gaslight Anthem, Tim Vantol, Brian Fallon and Chuck Ragan.
Life is a struggle, as Dave Hause himself has stated. Even if things are going well for us, you still have to swim upstream all the time, hoping to reach the shore at some point. It’s also the theme of Dave Hause’s fourth and most recent album “Kick”. It’s an album about hope and resistance, having doubts about our society, overcoming mental issues, and everything else he carries on his sleeve. Dave Hause wrote this album with the help of his brother, whom he sees as his soulmate in music. One of the main reasons for writing this album was the sudden and tragic loss of friend and inspiration Scott Hutchison. The front man of Frightened Rabbit took his own life in 2018, which led the Hause brothers to delve into finding the meaning of life again after suffering a tragic loss.
