This Is The Kit is the band of British multi-instrumentalist Kate Stables. The Paris-based artist makes banjo-powered folk songs, which are further enhanced with piano, percussion, guitar, organ or trumpet. She is also known for her beautiful stories full of emotional plots and inspiring developments.
She has gained lots of respect from colleagues and listeners alike because of her melancholy and poetic indie folk. In 2008, the alternative folk band debuted with the album “Krulle Bol”; twelve years later, they released their fifth record called “Off Off On” through Rough Trade Records, with a new one called “Careful of Your Keepers” on the way in June.
The career of This Is The Kit got a boost when The National asked them as a support act on their tour. Their front man Matt is one of the biggest fans of This Is The Kit and even asked them to collaborate on The National’s album “I Am Easy to Find”. On their most recent album “Off Off On” she further refined her song-writing skills, presenting a sound that is bristling with ideas and life.
