Master Boot Record is the alias of the anonymous Italian musician Victor Love. His music is inspired by classic 16-bits video game soundtracks and the loud sound of a floppy drive electro motor and heavy metal.
Victor Love is obsessed by the development of computers and he managed to capture that evolution in catchy song structures. Master Boot Record is also extremely productive. Their latest album “Personal Computer” is his twelfth (!) in a very short period, which includes some EP’s. Just like its predecessor “Floppy Disk Overdrive”, it was released by the label Metal Blade Records. Thematically, it describes the evolution of the Pentium Processor.
Classical and neo-classical themes are integral to the full Master Boot Record package, as are heavy riffs with deformed chiptune sounds and synth-driven soundscapes. The programmed drums and buzzing floppy drive synths are used as the rhythm section. This blend results in a very interesting experience; it’s as if you’re listening to the soundtrack of a darker version of the eighties. Master Boot Record also blends the heart beat of rock & roll with the clinical world of digital.
The support act is Arottenbit, which is another solo project with 8-bit punk and metal. The main difference: it’s performed on a Gameboy!
