Yungmorpheus
Rapper Yungmorpheus originally hails from Miami, but moved to Los Angeles and made the local sound of the City of Angels his own. He is not just a story teller and rapper, but also a renowned producer.
Just listen to his latest album, “From Whence It Came”, which came out at the end of 2023 through Lex Records. The production sounds like an ode to the traditional G-funk as envisioned by Dr. Dre, but with the rhythms and beats that are reminiscent of the productions of Madlib and J. Dilla. Yungmorpheus uses a lot of soul and jazz samples. By combining these with his raps, easy flow and remarkable voice, he always manages to leave an impression. His lyrics stem from societal and political involvement and is driven by his activist nature. Recommended to fans of Mach Hommy, MIKE, Pink Siifu, Armand Hammer and Billy Woods.
