Dizzee Rascal, the Godfather of UK Grime, is coming to Doornroosje. After a sold-out show in De Melkweg this February, Rascal is taking his new album “Don’t Take It Personal” to Nijmegen. This often-praised and influential artist from the UK Grime scene will, naturally, also play some of his hits, including ‘Bonkers’ and ‘Dance Wiv Me’.
Dizzee Rascal was the first rapper who won the Mercury Music Prize 2003. His new album offers exactly what you’d hope: his characteristic sound and rap. With this new album, Dizzee doesn’t only showcase his ability to redefine the musical landscape, but also to evolve as an artist. The album features the familiar Grime sound, which is a unique mix of garage, jungle and UK rap. A whiff of nostalgia, but one that still resonates as urgent and relevant.
