The American Italians Do It Better label has been active since 2006, offering high quality Italo pop, synth pop, dark wave and post-punk. One of the driving forces behind the label is co-founder Johnny Jewel, who is also active as producer, DJ, musician and designer. Jewel was the mastermind behind Chromatics with whom he had a lot of success. He is also a musician for Glass Candy and Desire. Tonight, he will be here as a live producer and DJ. Other than closing act Desire, the label will also present three acts that will be in Europe for the first time.

Closer tonight is the Montreal, Canada artist Desire who currently resides in Los Angeles. Desire sings in French and English and released her album “Escape” earlier this year. The album is full of Italo disco, disco noir and synth wave. The music of Desire was previously used on the ‘catwalks’ of fashion brands like Dior and Chanel, and was also used in the movie Drive. Her live show is enhanced by surrealist film imagery.

Club Intl. is a duo consisting of singer and drummer John Eatherly and his friend Maxwell Kamins on synthesizer. Their debut single ‘Crush’ came out earlier this year.

Based on her looks, Glüme could be Marilyn Monroe’s grand-daughter. Her image fits her music like a glove: an eccentric mix of eighties wave and disco noir with screeching synths and mesmerizing electronic beats.

Mothermary – named after the Holy Virgin – consists of the twins Elyse and Larena. The sisters grew up in a strict, religious Mormon family. They left this behind, moved to New York and decided to pursue a career in music. They learnt to play instruments and to produce and have decided to use their experiences with religion in their lyrics. The result is unique as Mothermary is very apt at playing around with aspects of light and darkness and to balance between hope and fear. Their deep and almost identical voices, the gritty dark wave and vintage electro can all be heard on their debut album “I Am Your God” as well.
